  in another thread heathen gave me a great idea.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=43769&site=3.

  i'm always hearing apostates propose the idea of partaking of the emblems or passing out apostate literature at the memorial... but heathen has given me an even better idea.... a mass walk-out.

  I think you have to ask yourself, what in reality do these actions actually achieve? Are you educating others to have more freedom of mind and expression, or are you simply making yourself look like a childish fool?

  To be honest, when I was a JW, I would have thought the latter of you.

  It is far better to reason with others about their beliefs, but ultimately if they choose to follow a certain faith, then leave them alone. They have every right to worship in the way they choose. Disturbing a meeting for no good reason is not a fair and just way to behave.

  I think handing out leaflets or approaching individuals after the meeting is fair enough. Afterall, JWs approach and try to reason, so choose the same tactic and earn respect. Far better than fueling the anit-apostate fire.

  you have been following the news for weeks on iraq and wonder, "when will we attack and get this thing done?

  " finally we invade and the war is in full swing.

  the economy, which has been struggling for months now, finally caves in and major retailers fold as of the results of an extremely poor holiday shopping season.

  Saddam may be partially insane and a brutal leader, but don't be a sucker to the news reports and what you are led to believe. Take a look at the weapons our nation states hold and ask yourself why other smaller nations would choose to develop their own arsenal.

  An understandable statement according to your fearful vision of the world, but is your vision correct? Who really are the enemy we should fear the most? Do the smaller nations on the planet have a right to arm themselves in a similar way to the US? Maybe they are feeling more and more vulnerable at the hands of US foreign policy and need to feel secure within themselves. How much more dangerous would your existence become in reality? Take in the global picture and understand why the poorer nations react in this way.

  The biggest threat at the moment I can now see is one centralized government dictating what each individual on the planet can and can't do. Taking our personal liberties away and tying us in to Westernized ideas and philosophies. The cloak of fear that has been cast across the world - "Terrorism" - who in reality cast that shadow across us all and what is their ultimate goal? Myself, I'll never take anything at face value again, never. I really do not trust the political powers that have raised themselves to govern us at this moment in time. I am growing increasingly unsettled by the propaganda machine that increases in momentum weekly and turns our collective attention towards global terrorism. When a man becomes gripped by fear he will often leap under the easiest shelter to protect himself. Fall into line, it's the Bush & Blair show, no jostling at the back please or you will be thrown out!

  I can see where you are coming from and probably by your words you are gripped by fear. If shit happens, it happens. Neither you nor I have any real control over world events and some things take their course regardless of our individual fear and concern.

  Try to enjoy and enrich the moment you exist within and for an alternate take on world events, cruise along to this site:

  i feel sick

  i just went to the supermarket and came face to face with an elders wife coming out of the store,.

  i was polite and said hello as im just a fader as they refer to it on this board, but im not kidding youd think she had just met hitler.... that is how she reacted to me, i left those meetings cuz of how they treated me and the lies hypocrisy lack of love on and on but being reacted to like that hurts and makes me so angry.... how the heck do you deal with it, it really affects me so much..... its realy hurtful oh well i need to realise shes not important in my life so what she thinks dont matter squatt.

  hard tho isnt it?.

  My way to handle it would be one of the following:

  1. Leap towards the nearest pile of tins or vegetables and take cover.

  2. Greet the brother or sister with the warmest smile you can muster and go for the hand shake. Then say "hope you and the family are well" .... lurve them big style.

  3. Go for the snub first. Look away and direct yourself and your thoughts to a local item of interest. The magazine rack is always a good place to ignore somebody.

  A difficult one. There is no easy way initially. After a while and practise it becomes easier, like many things in life.

  Is Christmas Pagan or Christian?

  as the christmas holiday approaches, it brings out the comments from my witness family members to attempt to belittle our practice of enjoying the holiday.

  when we first left the jehovah's witnesses and decided to celebrate christmas, we still considered ourselves to be christians.

  so the argument of choice from our relatives was, "how can you call yourself christians and celebrate such a pagan holiday.

  Is Christmas a morally upright celebration and something Christ would be proud of ?

  it made an already unbearable task even worse.

  the top of the crap pile for me was trying to place a magazine entitled the salty drink that saves lives.

  Silent Lambs/Bill Bowen..Who rejoices now?

  having read the exchanges between rev, bill bowen, and others involved in the silent lambs website, i honestly feel sickened.

  i remember when i first started to hear rumblings that "something big" was going down regarding the society's handling of child abuse.

  i was overjoyed because i had first-hand knowledge of several atrocities in this regard and was hoping against all odds that a major upset would force them to change their policies.

  Have to admit to having only a passing interest in Bill & his site, but from an outsiders point of view, Bill has become a media star (celebrity) and it seems to have gone to his head.

  I was never sure of those dark shades he wore to a meeting either. If they were not for medical reasons, why the pose ?

  since leaving the watchtower, do you still believe that you will live forever, here on earth?

  some might think that heaven is the final destiny, while other may just believe in this short life and nothing else.

  what is your belief and how does it affect your daily life?
